Privacy Notice

Fire & Gas Detection Technologies, Inc. (hereafter, “Company,” “FGD,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Notice explains what personal information we collect through our website, products, sales and support activities, and business relationships; how and why we use it; with whom we share it; how long we keep it; and the rights and choices available to you.

For the purposes of data protection law, Company is the controller (the business, under California law) of the personal information described in this Notice. Our contact details for privacy matters are in Section 13.

This Notice has three parts that build on one another. Sections 2–9 apply to everyone. 1.   About this Notice and who we are

This Privacy Notice applies to personal information we collect about visitors to our website, customers, prospective customers, business contacts, and other individuals who interact with Company. “Personal information” (also “personal data”) means information that identifies, relates to, or could reasonably be linked to you or your household.

You do not need to provide personal information to browse general areas of our website. Some features—such as submitting an inquiry, requesting support, or placing an order—cannot work without the minimum information needed to provide them.

2.   Notice at Collection — summary

This section summarizes, in plain language, the categories of personal information we collect, why we collect each, and how long we keep it. The sections that follow provide further detail.

We do not sell or share your personal information. We do not sell personal information for money or other valuable consideration, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. As a matter of policy, we also honor recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control (GPC).

We have collected the following categories of personal information in the prior 12 months. As stated above, we do not sell or share any of them.

  • Identifiers — name, email, postal address, phone, IP address, and online identifiers. Collected to respond to inquiries, fulfill and service orders, provide support, and maintain security. Retained for the length of our relationship with you plus up to 7 years.
  • Customer records (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.80) — billing and contact details and, for purchases, payment-related data. Collected to process orders, invoicing, and warranty. Retained for 7 years after the transaction (tax, warranty, and limitations periods).
  • Commercial information — the products and services you inquire about or purchase. Collected to fulfill and service the relationship. Retained for 7 years after the transaction.
  • Internet and network activity — your browsing and interactions on our site, and analytics data. Collected to operate, secure, and improve the website. Retained for up to 26 months (analytics) or the applicable cookie lifespan.
  • Geolocation — coarse location derived from your IP address. Collected for security and website localization. Retained within server logs for up to 13 months.
  • Professional and employment information — a business contact’s title and employer. Collected to manage business (B2B) relationships. Retained for the length of our relationship plus up to 7 years.
  • Inferences — a limited profile drawn from the information above. Used to tailor communications you have opted into. Retained until you opt out, or up to 24 months of inactivity.
  • Sensitive personal information — we do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information through the website, and we do not use or disclose it to infer characteristics about you.

We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of individuals under 16 years of age.

3.   Personal information we collect, and our sources

We collect the categories listed in Section 2 from these sources:

  • From you directly — when you submit a web form, request a quote or support, place an order, subscribe to communications, attend an event, or otherwise correspond with us.
  • Automatically — when you use our website, through cookies and similar technologies and server logs (IP address, device and browser data, and pages viewed). See Section 6.
  • From third parties — our service providers (such as our website host and CRM), business partners and distributors, and, where applicable, publicly available or commercial business-contact sources, consistent with a contract or other lawful basis.

4.   How and why we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to inquiries, quotes, and support requests;
  • process, fulfill, and service orders, including warranty and product-safety communications;
  • operate, secure, maintain, and improve our website and offerings;
  • conduct analytics to understand and improve website performance (see Section 6);
  • send communications you have requested or opted into, and manage our business relationship with you;
  • comply with legal, tax, accounting, e-commerce, and regulatory obligations; and
  • establish, exercise, or defend legal claims, and protect the rights, property, and safety of Company and others.

The legal bases on which we rely for individuals protected by the GDPR are set out in Section 11.

5.   How we share personal information

We do not sell or share your personal information. We disclose personal information only as described below, and in each case under a written contract, terms of service, or other legally binding relationship that restricts the recipient’s use of the data:

  • Service providers and processors that perform functions on our behalf, including:
    • Alphabet Inc. (Google) — productivity tools and website analytics;
    • Intergage Ltd (United Kingdom) — website hosting and provision;
    • Freshworks / Freshdesk — customer relationship management, inquiry logging, and support;
    • Sage — accounting and invoicing; and
    • payment processors, email and communications providers, and other vendors that support our operations.
  • Professional advisors — auditors, lawyers, insurers, and similar advisors, where reasonably necessary.
  • Affiliates within our corporate group, where applicable.
  • Legal, regulatory, and safety disclosures — to comply with law, respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect rights and safety.
  • Corporate transactions — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality.

We do not share personal information with third parties for their own marketing unless you have explicitly opted in.

6.   Cookies, analytics, and tracking technologies

Our website can largely function without non-essential cookies. We use:

  • Strictly necessary cookies required for the website to operate.
  • Analytics cookies (such as Google Analytics, with Google engaged as our service provider) to understand website usage in an aggregated, statistical manner. This may involve limited personal information used for statistics rather than to identify you.
  • Advertising and social cookies — we do not load social-sharing, tracking, or advertising cookies unless you have explicitly opted in.

Where required, we obtain consent before setting non-essential cookies. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) and other recognized opt-out preference signals transmitted by your browser. You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, or contact us at info@fg-detection.com.

7.   How long we keep personal information

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including to provide our services and to satisfy contractual, tax, accounting, e-commerce, warranty, and other legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Indicative periods appear in Section 2. When personal information is no longer needed, we delete, de-identify, or securely archive it. Residual copies may persist briefly in backups until they expire on their ordinary cycle.

8.   Security

We maintain reasonable and appropriate administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information against unauthorized or unlawful processing and against accidental loss, destruction, or damage. No method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure.

9.   Children’s privacy

Our website and offerings are directed to businesses and are not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16 years of age, and we do not knowingly sell or share such information. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us (Section 13) and we will delete it.

10.   Your privacy rights — United States

If you are a resident of a U.S. state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law in effect, you have the rights described below to the extent that law applies to Company and your data. As of 2026, these states include California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. The specific rights and exceptions vary by state, and we honor the rights available to you under your state’s law.

Your rights may include the right to:

  • Know or access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the purposes, and the categories of recipients;
  • Correct inaccurate personal information;
  • Delete personal information we hold about you;
  • Obtain a portable copy of your personal information;
  • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information and of targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising;
  • Opt out of certain profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, where your state provides this right;
  • Limit the use of sensitive personal information, where applicable;
  • Appeal a denial of a request, in states that provide an appeal right (see below); and
  • Non-discrimination — you will not be retaliated against for exercising any of these rights.

How to exercise your rights

Submit a request by email to info@fg-detection.com (with “Privacy Request” in the subject line) or by calling +1 (714) 671-8500. We will verify your identity before responding and will respond within the timeframe your state’s law requires (generally 45 days, extendable as permitted by law). You may use an authorized agent to submit a request; we may require proof of the agent’s authority and verification of your identity. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

Appeals

If we decline your request, you may appeal by replying to our decision or by writing to info@fg-detection.com with “Privacy Appeal” in the subject line. We will respond within the period your state’s law allows. If your appeal is denied, you may contact your state Attorney General or, in California, the California Privacy Protection Agency.

California-specific provisions

In addition to the rights above, if you are a California resident:

  • Categories collected and disclosed. The categories of personal information we collect and disclose are listed in Sections 2–5. In the preceding 12 months we have not sold or shared personal information.
  • Sensitive personal information. We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger the right to limit, so that right is not applicable; you may still contact us with any questions.
  • Shine the Light (Cal. Civ. Code §1798.83). California residents may request information about disclosures of personal information to third parties for those parties’ direct marketing. We do not make such disclosures without your opt-in, so this generally does not apply; you may still request confirmation.
  • Financial incentives. We do not offer financial incentives or price or service differences in exchange for personal information.

11.   Additional information for the EEA, United Kingdom, and Switzerland (GDPR)

This section applies if you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, and supplements the rest of this Notice.

Controller and contact

Company is the controller of your personal data. Company does not maintain an establishment in the EEA or the United Kingdom and has not appointed a Data Protection Officer, as one is not required. You may exercise your rights and direct any questions to us using the details in Section 13.

Legal bases for processing

  • Performance of a contract (or steps taken before entering one) — to respond to inquiries and to fulfill and service orders.
  • Legitimate interests — to operate, secure, and improve our website and business, conduct analytics, and manage relationships, where not overridden by your interests and rights.
  • Consent — for non-essential cookies and for opt-in marketing; you may withdraw consent at any time.
  • Legal obligation — for tax, accounting, e-commerce, and other compliance.

Your GDPR rights

Subject to the conditions and exceptions in applicable law, you have the rights to access; rectification; erasure; restriction of processing; data portability; object to processing (including processing based on legitimate interests and direct marketing); withdraw consent; not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, that produces legal or similarly significant effects; and lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority (in the United Kingdom, the Information Commissioner’s Office).

International transfers

Where we transfer personal data outside the EEA, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland to a country without an adequacy decision, we rely on appropriate safeguards—principally the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the United Kingdom International Data Transfer Addendum, and the Swiss addendum, together with any supplementary measures required. A copy of the relevant safeguards is available on request.

Data protection principles

We process personal data in accordance with the GDPR principles of lawfulness, fairness, and transparency; purpose limitation; data minimization; accuracy; storage limitation; integrity and confidentiality (security); and accountability.
